Villa Notman

Villa Notman is one of the most breathtaking villas in the entire Caribbean. It was originally built in 1860 and has been fully restored. The villa’s incredible white cast-iron balcony was imported from New Orleans and showcases the utmost impressive detailing. The second-floor balcony secures a large patio to compliment the yellow brick exterior. The patio overlooks the calm waters of the Charlotte Amalie harbor.

Villa Notman is one of sixteen houses on the island built out of the native stone Augite Andesite or "Blue Bit" and yellow ballast brick used to weight the hulls of ships that traveled from Europe to the West Indies. A beautiful fragrance garden decorated with Bay Leaf trees and Plumeria or Frangipani, used to make perfume, wraps around the villa.

As you enter the white gate lined with two yellow brick light posts from the side of the street, you walk up to the patio and through the front door. The home has six bedrooms and six bathrooms. Upstairs you’ll find the great room with deep brown mahogany wood floors, light yellow walls and French doors that open to the cast- iron balcony. Expertly crafted antique furniture lines the room. At the center is a truly eye-catching crystal chandelier with crown molding where it meets the high ceiling. The room contains a beautifully crafted mahogany wood bar.

The large and spacious bedrooms are just as lavishly furnished. Some have the same dark mahogany wood flooring and others offer a cooler marble floor. Rooms feature built-in bookshelves and arched doorways. A bedroom opens up to yet another large private balcony with harbor and hillside views. The bathrooms are upgraded and provide more than enough room for a king and queen to comfortably get ready at the same time in the morning. The ladies have access to their very own vanity stations and walk-in mirrored closets.

One can enjoy and relax in the small private swimming pool just behind the master bedroom.  It is one of three pools on the property that can be enjoyed.
